Gustav Klimt

GOATs | Creative Explorations in Form + Pattern

Pattern versus form.

OVERVIEW

This two-hour workshop provides a dazzling introduction to the signature style of Gustav Klimt, focusing on the decorative opulence of his "Golden Phase" and the Vienna Secession.

Students will learn how to achieve Klimt’s dramatic effects by mastering the contrast between rich, realistic figuration and abstract, decorative patterning. The class will cover techniques for using metallic gold and ochre tones, creating intricate two-dimensional geometric and organic patterns (spirals, squares, and waves) across clothing and backgrounds, while using soft modeling for the exposed skin. You'll leave with a shimmering, symbolic portrait or figurative study that successfully merges rich texture, elaborate ornamentation, and sensual depth.

Painterly Original works will be provided to fuel the creative process and stoke the imagination. No experience or artistic skill required!

PRICING

All classes are $120 per canvaswith a ten (10) student class minimum.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to counteract the age of disposable experiences by teaching genuine creative skills.
