Get Into Shapes

Foundations| Creative Explorations of the Power of Basic Shapes

Any way, shape, or form.

OVERVIEW

This two-hour beginner's class focuses on painting and drawing with shape, the foundational element that dictates all form and structure in art. We will explore why shape is so important—it is the basic building block used to simplify complex objects and create a sense of balance, stability, and recognition.

Students will learn how to break down complex subjects (like a human figure or a still life) into fundamental geometric shapes (squares, circles, triangles) and organic shapes (free-flowing, irregular forms). The session will cover how artists like Cézanne and Cubists used overlapping and placement to create visual rhythm, resulting in an abstract or semi-abstract artwork that is thoughtfully composed and visually powerful.

Painterly Original works will be provided to fuel the creative process and stoke the imagination. No experience or artistic skill required!

PRICING

All classes are $120 per canvas with a ten (10) studentclass minimum.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to counteract the age of disposable experiences by teaching genuine creative skills. Painterly’s framework promotes the creation of keepsake artwork that carries lasting personal value, rather than becoming clutter. In a world where art is often mass-produced or prohibitively expensive, we offer an affordable and intentional pathway for our students to create their own meaningful, display-worthy creations rooted in solid artistic foundations.
